Saulius Čaplinskas

 

 

 

Education:

1977 graduated from Kaunas Secondary  School No.5  with a Gold Medal

1983 graduated from Kaunas Medical Institute, Medical Faculty.

1989 defended a Doctoral dissertation and was awarded PhD.

Work experience:

Since 2009 Director of The Center for Communicable Diseases and AIDS

l989 – 2009 Director of Lithuanian AIDS Centre.

Pedagogical activities in various Universities of Lithuania (Kaunas University of Medicine, Vilnius University, Vilnius Pedagogical University,Mykolas Romeris University ).

Since 2012 Professor at Mykolas Romeris University.

Over 20 years of administrative work experience. Comprehensive scientific and practical expertise, experience cooperation with society and both inter-sectoral and international cooperation. International expert (World Health Organization, United Nations, the European Commission, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), UNICEF, IUSTI. etc.); experience in international project management.

Social activities:

Modern public health advocate.

I have actively participated in forming modern concept of public health in Lithuania: (one of co-authors of Lithuanian Health Programme 1998; Member of

National Drug Control Commission and National Health Council under the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania (2001-2005), and various National inter-sectoral working groups.

Since 2008  a freelance expert on public health care issues for Health Committee of the Seimas of the Republic of  Lithuania.

ECAD  Advisory Board member

Member of various World AIDS Conference Organisation/Scientific Committees

Research:

Author and co-author of two studies, 25 methodology publications, over 500 scientific articles, abstracts, reports, etc.

Member of magazines Public Health and Virology (in Russian) Editorial Board.

Member of New York Academy of Sciences.

Marital status

Married to Irma Caplinskiene, medical doctor and University lecturer, with 3 children.
